Details: The Po Leung Kuk Lo's Trust School in Hong Kong is a special education school dedicated to providing education, treatment, accommodation, and family support services for severely intellectually disabled students aged 6 to 18. To facilitate the transportation of students with mobility impairments, the school has specially customized this accessible school bus. A Shin-Teck UVL-1650MAX wheelchair lift has been installed in the luggage compartment below the emergency exit on the right side of the bus. The lift can travel up and down a distance of 1250mm and has a maximum load capacity of 350kg, assisting students in boarding and alighting by elevating/lowering the platform. Multiple sets of wheelchair securing devices have been installed inside the bus to stabilize the wheelchair in place, ensuring the safety of students riding in wheelchairs. Additionally, Shin-Teck quick-release seat securing devices have been modified, allowing for flexible adjustment of seat spacing. The bottom track is also compatible with the wheelchair securing devices, enabling seats to be removed at any time to make space for students in wheelchairs. This design enables the school bus to transport up to 10 students in wheelchairs, significantly enhancing transportation efficiency and solving travel challenges.
